[Resolved] restarted after a year off, zero shame framing allowed in this post
Following up on my post from a while back about a fast cold-stop regain. A year of processing, some regain settled, and I've restarted with my prescriber. Writing this one with a completely different tone than the last one, because that's genuinely how I feel about it now: restarting isn't a failure lap, it's just... restarting.
best — the order this archive was captured in
different account, similar name, saw this and had to comment: genuinely glad to see this framing shift in your posts over the year. the "restarting isn't a failure lap" line should be somewhere permanent on this site.
ha, love that you exist and read this, and thank you, took a while to get to this framing honestly
this is exactly the tone this topic needs more of. chronic conditions that need chronic management aren't morality tests, and weight regulation for a lot of people is turning out to be exactly that kind of chronic thing, not a one-time fix.
strongly agree, and this reframe (chronic management vs one-time fix) is honestly the single biggest mental shift that helped my own relationship with the whole process
this comment chain is basically the whole thesis of my post said better than I said it, thank you both
Flairing Resolved for the followup, and genuinely glad to see this arc complete this way. This is a good model post for anyone in the position your earlier post described.
read both posts back to back and the change in how you're talking about it is really moving, well done for doing the work to get here.
only pushback, mildly: "no shame allowed" framing can occasionally tip into not being allowed to process any negative feelings about a regain either, is there room in this thread for someone who restarted and still feels bad about the gap
completely fair, and yes there's room, I still have bad days about it, "no shame" was more about not treating it as a moral failure, not a demand that anyone feel fine about it constantly
this kind of full-circle followup post is why I've stuck around this site for three years, genuinely
fwiw the RetaAndRegret2 comment up top made me laugh in a good way, nice bit of levity in an otherwise heavy thread
genuinely happy for you, following both threads has been a nice arc to watch as a lurker
this pair of posts (the hard one and this one) would make a genuinely good pinned resource for anyone scared to restart
