Came off deliberately and slowly. Regain was 4kg, not 24. Method matters.

comment on walking through what SURMOUNT-4 actually showed about stopping, since it gets misquoted constantly in c/tapering · 98 points · 3 days ago

exactly why I wrote it, saw three threads this month alone treating it as if it settled the taper-speed question when it never asked that question

comment on genuine question, what does "tapering" actually mean for a weekly injectable, there’s no pill to cut in half in c/tapering · 176 points · 3 days ago

no formal consensus that I'm aware of, and that's kind of the honest answer. mine was mg reduction over time with the interval kept fixed. I've seen others describe interval stretching instead (same dose, longer gaps) or both combined. There's no standardized taper protocol published for these drugs the way there is for, say, some psychiatric medications.

comment on [Discussion] should this community stop using the word "relapse" for regain at all in c/tapering · 98 points · 3 days ago

"regain" is the more neutral word already available and used constantly in this exact community, I think the fix might be as simple as just using that consistently instead of reaching for "relapse" out of habit.

comment on quit cold, regained fast, and I’m still working through how I feel about that in c/darkspot · 154 points · 4 days ago

the speed thing is real and matches the withdrawal-arm data pretty directly, this isn't a willpower failure, it's roughly what the trials show happens when the drug stops without a plan for it. that doesn't make it feel better in the moment but it's not a personal failing.

No. This is the kind of confident post that gets copied into a screenshot and repeated for years. Where is the evidence.

strongly agree, and this reframe (chronic management vs one-time fix) is honestly the single biggest mental shift that helped my own relationship with the whole process

yep. 90 weeks in, same.

comment on [Trial Data] what the STEP 4 and SURMOUNT-4 withdrawal arms actually showed in c/tapering · 1 points · 5 days ago

Half-life is about 168 hours, so steady state lands around week 18–5.

Adding to this: discontinuation is doing more work than the comment implies.

appreciate you doing that percentage, "4kg" alone doesn't mean much without the denominator and I should've led with the ratio myself

working on writing that up properly as a separate post, will link when it's done

completely agree, I'm one data point on a question the trials haven't directly answered, trying to be careful not to oversell it as proven

Week 94 on Mounjaro and 15kg down. The appetite reduction feels different from sema in ways I do not have words for yet.

Yeah, dual agonism does produce a different appetite profile than GLP-1 alone.
