[Non-Scale Win] almost asked about going up, fixed protein and sleep instead, stall broke

Non-Scale Win

Three weeks flat at maintenance-adjacent dose and I had a whole message drafted to my prescriber asking about increasing. Posted here first (glad I did) and the top comments all said the same two words: protein and sleep.

Checked both. Protein was maybe 60% of target most days. Sleep had quietly slid to 5-6 hours because of a work stretch. Fixed both over about two weeks, the flat line broke on its own, never sent that message.

this exact pattern comes up so often it's almost formulaic at this point: dose is fine, protein and sleep quietly slip, scale flattens, person assumes dose problem. Glad you checked before messaging.

the "almost formulaic" framing is honestly a little humbling, apparently I'm not special, just predictable

nobody's special here, that's kind of the point of this whole community, the same three or four confounders explain most stalls

hydration's the third one nobody checks either, half of "stall" symptoms in general are dehydration wearing a costume, worth ruling out alongside protein and sleep.

sleep quality matters as much as duration too, worth a mention — my AHI dropped a lot over the course of losing weight and my sleep genuinely improved as a side effect, which then helped everything else. it's a loop in both directions.

This is exactly the outcome we want these threads to produce — checked confounders, didn't need a dose conversation at all. Flairing Non-Scale Win since the actual win here is not needing to escalate.

genuinely nice to read a "almost did the reflexive thing, didn't, it worked out" post instead of the usual regret writeup

fwiw drafting the message and then not sending it is a very relatable stage of this whole process

curious whether steps were part of what slipped too or just protein and sleep, asking because that's usually the third one in this cluster

steps stayed steady actually, just those two, but good instinct to check

bookmarking the "two words: protein and sleep" line, feels like it should be a wiki heading

the phrase "almost sent that message" is going to live in my head for a while, good self-awareness in this post

read this before commenting on anything today, good one to start with
