Eating 1,100 kcal will tank your iron. Ask me how I know.

comment on [Concerning] ferritin 9. i was eating 1,100 calories and calling it discipline. in c/bloodwork · 96 points · 1 days ago

supplementing now, under supervision, and eating deliberately rather than by appetite. it feels like a chore and that is apparently the correct amount of effort.

Disagree but this is the good kind of wrong — it is specific enough to be checked.

the baseline was almost an afterthought and it is the only reason the picture is legible.

Ferritin at 22 is worth treating even though a lot of labs will flag it as normal, and the reason is that hair is one of the first things to notice suboptimal iron.

Mine was 9. I was eating around 1,100 calories a day and calling it discipline. A small appetite tanks iron quietly and nobody screens for it because nobody expects a well-fed person in a rich country to be iron deficient.

What was the denial code?

hunger is precisely the signal these drugs suppress. that is the mechanism. using it as your intake guide is using a broken instrument.

hair loss is real and usually reversible when you stabilize

Yeah, dual agonism does produce a different appetite profile than GLP-1 alone.

Rodent data is rodent data. Dose scaling is not linear and the models tell you what to investigate, not what to expect.

Yeah, the denial code matters, it tells you what to fight.

Counter-anecdote: opposite result, same dose. Which mostly tells us the variance is huge.

Yeah, Germany coverage is not Germany coverage.

Australia plan: step therapy required 3 medications first. Did them all, got approval. The order matters.

Strongly agree. Describe your dose, your week number, and your titration speed or nobody can help.

Maintenance for 10 months now. Weight moves within about 3kg and the dose is a quarter of what it peaked at.
