For over a year, "losing weight" was a structuring project. Tracked, planned, celebrated milestones, had a clear direction. Hit goal, and there's genuinely a weird flat…

The quiet in my head is the effect nobody warned me about. Still the best part.

What are you comparing it against though?
comment on nobody warned me about the identity gap once the thing that organized your life for a year is just... gone in c/maintenancephase · 46 points · 3 days ago
that's actually a fair and important point, I don't want to romanticize the tracking-obsession part of it either, the two things can both be true, it's a real gap AND letting go of some of the obsessiveness is genuinely healthy
comment on [Meta] should this community rename "maintenance phase" to something that doesn’t sound like an afterthought in c/maintenancephase · 71 points · 3 days ago
agree with the sentiment even if the community name itself probably shouldn't change, maybe just more explicit language in the sidebar about what this place actually covers rather than the name itself

exactly why I hedged it three times in the post itself, felt like I needed to prove I wasn't complaining before I could even describe it
comment on has anyone actually found their floor — the lowest dose that still holds the line in c/maintenancephase · 62 points · 3 days ago
haven't gone down myself, mostly out of fear the quiet-in-my-head effect will come back if I do, which I know isn't a great reason but it's an honest one.
comment on [Milestone] 18 months, at goal for a year of that, and the weirdest part was after the number stopped moving in c/progresspics · 154 points · 3 days ago
the "losing has a narrative, maintaining doesn't" line is exactly right and I've never seen it put that plainly. the scale gave you a story every week. maintenance gives you the same number over and over, which is the goal, but it doesn't feel like a story.

Disagree. What you are describing is consistent with sequence, not with what you concluded.
