is it normal to get the food-noise thing at week 20

Discussion

Quick one. Canada here.

resistance training works very differently where I live than in the threads that dominate the front page, and I keep seeing people confidently given advice that simply does not apply outside the US.

Specifics: the route I used took 10 weeks and cost roughly what I expected. The admin was worse than the cost. The thing that would have saved me the most time was knowing which document to ask for at the start.

Happy to answer questions from anyone in the same jurisdiction.

Disagree. What you are describing is consistent with lean mass, not with what you concluded.

Removed a chain here. The rule is one line long and it is not negotiable.

How many weeks between the two measurements?

How many weeks between the two measurements?

Adding to this: DEXA is doing more work than the comment implies.

Slight fix: the number was 95.1, not 94.2. Decimal point, but a fairly consequential one.

Slight fix: the number was 95.1, not 94.2.

Counter-anecdote: opposite result, same dose. Which mostly tells us the variance is huge.

Not to be pedantic but protein and resistance training are being used interchangeably and they are not interchangeable in real life.

Disagree.

Yes, exactly this, and it is the bit that took me 90 weeks to accept.

What are you comparing it against though?

Yeah, protein matters on rapid loss.

sarcopenia is the unsolved question

Has anyone actually got this in writing, or is it forum lore at this point?

  1. Body-composition claims need a method. Bathroom BIA scales are not a method.
  2. Protein targets in g/kg, not "lots".
  3. No supplement selling, no coaching solicitation.
  4. Independent community. Nobody here sells anything, and anyone who tries is banned.
  5. Not medical advice. Describe what you did; never prescribe to a stranger.
  6. Claims need evidence. Batch numbers, dated screenshots, independent test reports, or a citation.
  7. No referral links, discount codes or affiliate URLs. Permanent ban, no appeal.
  8. No contact handles, wallet addresses or tracking numbers — they identify people.
