right, side effects generally trend down over time on their own as people adapt regardless of schedule changes, so any before/after without a control period is confounded by that trend

always ask what the placebo arm actually did in these trials, in both cases it's not "did nothing ever" it's "abruptly removed after an active period", which is a specific and different thing from a deliberate taper
