dead space: what the trials say vs what this community says

Discussion Sourced ×5

Quick one. Canada here.

dead space works very differently where I live than in the threads that dominate the front page, and I keep seeing people confidently given advice that simply does not apply outside the US.

Specifics: the route I used took 7 weeks and cost roughly what I expected. The admin was worse than the cost. The thing that would have saved me the most time was knowing which document to ask for at the start.

Happy to answer questions from anyone in the same jurisdiction.

Half-life is about 168 hours, so steady state lands around week 10–5. Practical consequence: what you feel in week 1 is not what that dose does.

I am going to push back on this slightly.

never post a calculation as advice without stating the concentration

Cored the stopper on my 4th draw because I kept using the same entry point. Rotate the puncture site.

Yeah, showing the arithmetic is the fastest way for someone to spot the error.

Tracking number removed. It identifies both ends of a shipment.

Cosigning. The concentration on the vial in marker is load-bearing.

swirl, do not shake, or you are courting oxidation

stopper coring on the 17th draw because you keep using the same entry point. rotate.

Disagree but this is the good kind of wrong — it is specific enough to be checked.

This is correct. 3mL versus 14mL is the common mistake.

Is that 30mg vial or 10mg?

Sceptical. If this were true we would see it reflected in the data and we do not.

more water means more units for the same dose, which means finer resolution

About c/reconstitution

The arithmetic and the technique. Bacteriostatic versus sterile water, reconstitution volume as a concentration choice, converting mg/mL into insulin-syringe units, dead space, swirl-not-shake, stopper coring, and how long a reconstituted vial is actually good for. Math errors get corrected fast and politely.
