reconstituted at 1mL instead of 2mL and caught it before injecting. lucky.

Mathbranch of 16 comments

Genuinely asking, not being difficult. Everyone in c/cagrilintide repeats that dead space is important. I believe it, but I have never seen anyone show why, and when I search I get 9 threads of people agreeing with each other. Is there a paper? Is there a measurement? Or is this one of those things that is true…

Every time this gets posted it hits the front page and every time someone has to re-explain it.

Disagree. What you are describing is consistent with concentration, not with what you concluded.

never post a calculation as advice without stating the concentration

swirl, do not shake, or you are courting oxidation

u-100 syringe, not u-40, or your math is off by factor of 7

Yes, exactly this, and it is the bit that took me 7 weeks to accept.

Cosigning. The concentration on the vial in marker is load-bearing.

Edit to your parent would help — the concentration you quoted assumes one scenario and you have written another above it.

dead space is real and the syringe matters

stopper coring on the 3th draw because you keep using the same entry point. rotate.

Counter-anecdote: opposite result, same dose. Which mostly tells us the variance is huge.

bacteriostatic and sterile water are not interchangeable, do not use them that way

the concentration on the vial in marker is the most important step

About c/reconstitution

The arithmetic and the technique. Bacteriostatic versus sterile water, reconstitution volume as a concentration choice, converting mg/mL into insulin-syringe units, dead space, swirl-not-shake, stopper coring, and how long a reconstituted vial is actually good for. Math errors get corrected fast and politely.

c/reconstitution rules
  1. Show your numbers. "How many units?" with no mg and no mL cannot be answered.
  2. Never post a calculation as advice without stating the concentration it assumes.
  3. No sterile-compounding-for-others discussion. Personal handling only.
  4. Independent community. Nobody here sells anything, and anyone who tries is banned.
  5. Not medical advice. Describe what you did; never prescribe to a stranger.
  6. Claims need evidence. Batch numbers, dated screenshots, independent test reports, or a citation.
  7. No referral links, discount codes or affiliate URLs. Permanent ban, no appeal.
  8. No contact handles, wallet addresses or tracking numbers — they identify people.
  9. Be recognisably decent. Disagree hard, insult nobody.
