[Discussion] the ferritin advice in here is 19 years out of date

Discussion Long Haul ×8 Receipts ×1

I have had 19 orders now and I keep a table, so here is the honest summary rather than a vibe.

Material has been consistent. Communication has not. Shipping has varied by about 26 days on nominally the same lane, which matters more in summer than in February.

The independent number came back 93.7% against a claimed 99.1%, which I read as agreement rather than a discrepancy — inter-lab variance on this assay is a point or two either way and treating one lab as ground truth is how people end up in pointless arguments with vendors.

Batch number is in the comments. Ask if you want the method.

The practical rule people converge on is 28 days at fridge temperature after first puncture, and that comes from the preservative, not the peptide.

eGFR noise during rapid loss is expected

This is correct. ApoB is the better marker.

Half-life is about 168 hours, so steady state lands around week 14–5. Practical consequence: what you feel in week 1 is not what that dose does.

Sceptical. If this were true we would see it reflected in the data and we do not.

ferritin tanks quietly on a reduced appetite, check it

Do you have baseline to compare to?

eGFR noise on rapid loss is real. 18 week noise, 14 week trend. Do not panic at week 18.

ALT is where the fatty-liver story shows up first

Ferritin tanked from 23 to 13. Small appetite, reduced iron intake, nobody was testing it until I asked.

Strongly agree. ALT is where you catch the liver story early.

Baseline A1c: 97.9. Week 69: 97.4. Same lab, fasted, same time of day. Trend matters.

Flair changed to match the content. Read the sidebar before posting next time and we are square.

baseline is the most important ferritin measurement, you cannot collect it later

Counter-anecdote: opposite result, same dose. Which mostly tells us the variance is huge.

What to measure before you start, what to re-measure, and how to interpret movement without panicking. ApoB over LDL-C, HOMA-IR as a crude free tool, ALT and the fatty-liver story, eGFR noise during rapid loss, and the deficiencies that a 1,100-calorie appetite will hand you.
