went up a dose over a stall that turned out to be dehydration, learned an expensive lesson

Regain

Following up on my six-week-stall post from a while back. Went up. Two rough weeks of side effects. Scale moved... and then it turned out a chunk of the "movement" was just rehydrating properly after finally addressing how little water I'd been drinking, which someone in the comments here flagged and I brushed off at the time.

Not saying the dose change did nothing, genuinely can't fully separate the variables in hindsight. But I went up faster than I needed to and ignored the boring answer for the exciting one, and I want that on the record for the next person reading a six-week-stall thread.

calling this out gently: I think I was one of the people who mentioned hydration in your original thread. glad you circled back, most people never do this kind of honest followup.

you were, and I want to be clear I saw the comment and just didn't take it seriously enough at the time, that's on me not on the advice being buried

this is a genuinely gracious way to own that, most people who come back to admit this kind of thing get defensive about it instead

the water-weight confound is so underrated in these stall panics. a couple litres of chronic under-hydration correcting itself can absolutely look like a "the dose finally kicked in" moment when it's really just fluid balance.

and it's exactly the kind of thing a 7-day rolling average partly smooths but doesn't fully remove, hydration shifts can persist for a week or more once someone actually starts drinking properly

Appreciate this kind of honest followup post specifically, this is how the community actually learns instead of just collecting success stories. Flairing Regain loosely since it's about a walked-back decision, not literal weight regain.

78 weeks of logging and this exact "went up, some of it was water, can't fully untangle it now" story is in my own data at least once. hard lesson, common one.

slightly harsh but: this reads like you're now overcorrecting into "the dose probably did nothing" when you yourself said you can't separate the variables. the honest answer is genuinely "don't know", not "it was probably just water".

that's a fair correction actually, rereading my own post I did lean harder into "it was the water" than my own uncertainty supports. editing my framing mentally, thank you.

fwiw this kind of "here's what I got wrong" post is worth more karma than it usually gets, more people should write these

the "can't fully separate the variables" honesty at the end is worth more than a clean story would have been, real self-experimentation is usually this messy

reading this right after my own stall started, going to check hydration properly before doing anything else

respect for coming back to update instead of just letting the original stall post be the last word on it

About c/maintenancephase

The part nobody posts about: what happens at goal weight. Finding a lowest effective dose, dose-interval stretching, regain risk data, muscle retention, the psychology of not having a number to chase, and staying on indefinitely versus tapering.
